Planning approval granted unanimously by MVDC Development Committee

We’re delighted that The Greenhouse’s planning application received unanimous approval at the Development Committee on 3rd Dec.  The project was spoken for by Local Councillor, Paul Kennedy and we are very grateful for his active support, alongside the other Local Councillors who are equally in favour.

At the meeting Paul Kennedy said:  “I’m here tonight to ask you to support the Greenhouse, which is a much needed new community centre at the heart of my ward, and to grant planning permission, subject to the proposed conditions, without further delay.

“This application started as a project to replace the 60 year old scout hut which is small and dark, old and cold, and no longer fit for purpose.  As a community we all recognise that we need to make much better use of our buildings.  So this has become a community project, funded by the community, in consultation with the community, to be run by and for the whole community.

“The proposal is attractive, safe, sensitive, energy-efficient, and accessible to the vulnerable, elderly and disabled as well as to young people.”

The project is a partnership between 1st Fetcham Scout Group, St Mary’s Church, Mole Valley District Council and the broader Fetcham community. The project is being led by a not-for-profit community interest company, formed specifically for this purpose.
